  1. No earth-shattering money-saving ideas. I would just say have an automatic savings plan with your bank where you have an automatic transfer each month to your checking account.

  4. Yes, saving $ is a goal this year. One tip I have is to go over budget with your spouse. You both have to be on the same page, otherwise it'll be difficult. And small cutbacks in "luxuries" won't hurt, it'll be actually better in the long run!

  9. Saving money is a big goal for us this year. My husband finally finished school and we're heading out into the real world ... eek! We're trying to pinch every penny we can to pay off those horrible school loans. One of the best things we do to save money is to look for things that we can get for free. We love to "rent" movies from the library and I always check the Free section of our newspaper or Freecycle.org before I go out and purchase something we need around the house.

  15. Setting up an automatic transfer to savings is the best way for my family to save--if we don't see it, we don't spend it! I like to use ING Direct for our savings account, because it is a little 'harder' to access our funds immediately, which means we can think through our purchases more carefully.
