Work and Family

Yesterday some friends were discussing the balance between work and family, and how to work together as a family to do well in both areas. Work, obviously, is important because it provides for our families. Even though men and women also have varying views about work, I believe it is important to truly embrace whatever has been provided for us to "do" -- I am preaching to the choir because I've "met" so many bloggers and readers who desire to make the most financially, environmentally, and socially here in the blogosphere. As with anything, achieving balance is difficult and really requires the right perspective.

Some times I can't figure out what my "work" is -- there seems to be so much! But I'm trying not to let housework or time in the blogsphere interfere with my family, especially once the hubs gets home. We had a few disagreements last month because he misunderstood why I was on the computer, but thankfully those were resolved. This still is a difficult area for me though.

Is it difficult for you to balance work and family? Do you have any tips for us who struggle?!?

  1. Great topic! Ever since my husband and I moved in prior to our engagement I have been striving to balance between school and home life. When I first started blogging it was so tempting to write more than 1 post in one day in hope of attracting more followers. That attitude has changed over the course of blogging. Nowadays I focus much more on topics that interest me, and only plan on writing about 2 posts per week, especially now that school has started for me again. We just have to figure out what are the important things in lives, and where our priorities needed to be, and things should begin to fall into place :).

  2. Such an important topic! We always need help with balance but communication is key for us. There are several goals with blogging and he understands them - he likes to jump on the computer and track sports and stocks so computerwise we both have our time and place. Thanks for stopping by

  3. I love that you chose this topic! This past week, it was like I was addicted to the blogging and I got nothing done. I, actually, was telling my little one's....hold on, mommy's on the computer. I was trying to keep up with all the blog's I am following and trying to build my followers. Friday, I decided, I am not touching the computer this weekend and I didn't. We had a great family weekend. I have come to the conclusion that I have to pick, two or three times a day and stick to that! Otherwise it can get overwhelming and I am defeating my whole purpose for wanting to be home in the first place, my family:)

  4. Whew! It's tricky! I kept working after my oldest was born but I threw in the towel when my little one came along. I bet you balance things better than you think. :) Thank you for the follow- following you back now!

  7. I think that balance is the key here! It is something all moms try to obtain at home. Being a mom ia a full time job in itself. It is nonstop and trying to find the balance with family, housework, work is something that is so important. Your blogging is a great part of the balance you have found for yourself. It is good that you and your husband talked about it and he understands. Have a great night!
